A Handsell board in the Klein look — three book covers set in International Klein Blue with a serif HANDSELL wordmark, like a Fitzcarraldo edition.
The looks

Your reading, set like a designed edition.

Every look homages an iconic publisher’s visual language. Pick one and your whole board re-sets — austere, literary, unmistakably yours.

Sound familiar?

You read so much. None of it looks like you.

A shelfie is just a pile of books.

You photograph the shelf, but it comes out cluttered and dim — the same shot everyone else posts. The reading is there; the taste isn’t.

A tracker gives you a bar chart.

Goodreads and reading recaps count what you read. A number is not a portrait. None of it looks like you.

Canva makes a collage, not a reader.

General design tools can lay covers in a grid, but they don’t know what a book is — no spines, no spectrum, no literary eye.

How it works

Curate it, beautifully.

Hand-selling is a bookseller recommending, one-to-one, a book they love. Handsell is that — your canon, made into an object you’re proud to show.

Hand-pick your books

Search any title or scan an ISBN and the real cover drops in. Add a photo of your own copy, or design a clean colour cover. Curate the line-up that says who you are.

Choose a publisher-grade look

Klein, Marber, Tri-band, Real Shelf — each one homages an iconic publisher’s visual language. Swap looks live and the whole board re-sets like a designed edition.

Let colour do the talking

By Colour sorts your covers into a spectrum automatically — the most book-native flex there is. Your taste, arranged as a gradient.

Share the one image

Export a crisp, watermark-clean board sized for your feed, grid, or story. One picture worth sharing instead of a messy shelf photo.

Yours, on your device

No account, no servers. Your curations live on your phone. Curate and export fully offline; only fetching new covers needs a connection.

Make it your own

Handsell Pro unlocks every look and canvas ratio, and swaps the small footer mark for your own handle — your boards, your byline.

A reader’s taste, made into a beautiful object.

Not a number, not a cluttered shelfie — a designed edition of the reader you are. Your reading says who you are. Handsell lets you show it.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is Handsell a reading tracker like Goodreads?

No. Handsell isn’t about logging, goals, or stats — there are no streaks and no charts. It’s a niche photo & design editor that turns the books you choose into shareable, editorial-grade art. The output is a beautiful image, not a number.

Where do the book covers come from?

Search a title or scan an ISBN and the cover loads from open book data (Google Books, with Open Library as a fallback). You can also use your own photo of a cover, or design a clean colour cover right in the app.

How is this different from Canva or PicCollage?

Those are general collage tools. Handsell is built for books: it knows covers and spines, auto-sorts by colour, and dresses your reading in the visual language of iconic publishers (Fitzcarraldo, Penguin, Marber). The craft is in looking like a designed edition, not a generic grid.

Do I need an account?

No. Handsell has no account and no servers. Your curations are stored locally on your device.

How much does Handsell cost?

Free to download, with looks and layouts to make your first board right away. Handsell Pro is an optional upgrade — $4.99/month or $29.99/year — that unlocks every look, every canvas ratio, and replaces the small footer mark with your own handle (e.g. your Instagram).

What data does Handsell collect?

None about you, server-side. There are no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, so the App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected. Cover searches query open book-data services to fetch images; those requests don’t identify you. Camera access is only for scanning a barcode or capturing a cover, on-device.
